The CAOA is one of the largest car dealerships in all of Latin America and it was started by none other than Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade, which is what the letters stand for in the name of the company. In 1979, this doctor came across a failing car dealership and he offered to take over the company rather than them repay him for a car he put a down payment on. Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade was already an accomplished professional, but he wanted to try his hands at entrepreneurship. For the next six years after acquiring the company, Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade worked tirelessly to turn the company back into a profitable business, by which time he had already turned the CAOA into the leading importer of Ford vehicles to the continent.
The Brazilian market was long closed to imported vehicles being sold in the country, but this changed in 1992 when the laws were dropped. The CAOA was the first to board this journey to bring in imported vehicles. Within the very same year, Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade turned his company into the first and only Renault importer in the entire country. This French company became the number one sold make in the entire nation for imported vehicles.
Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade’s hard work has not gone unnoticed and he has been the recipient of a variety of awards since founding the CAOA. Dinheiro honored the CAOA with the Good doer Company award for their participation in the reforestation of Brazilian forests. At the same time, the CAOA developed a program to reuse waste products rather than throw them in the environment.
Today, Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade’s company has a presence all over Brazil and is a supplier of several imported vehicles, including Subaru, Hyundai, and Ford. The CAOA has been in operation for almost 40 years from their headquarters in Anapolis. In this time, the CAOA has sold more than one million vehicles to the Brazilian market.
